Description andrewabc 2009-06-02 23:18:27 UTC
I noticed this crash on ubuntu 9.04 64 bit ext4 openoffice 3.0.1 and 3.1. does
not seem to affect 32 bit ubuntu, or windows xp.

1. create new spreadsheet or use any spreadsheet
2. copy 1 cell (or many cells). Lets say input 111111 into cell A1 and copy it.
3. double click on any cell (let's say A5, and it is blank).
4. press enter
5. it pastes copied cell(s). I don't know why it does this on ubuntu version, it
doesn't on windows version, but that is a separate problem.
6. press undo twice. First undo removes newly pasted cell. Second undo crashes
openoffice.

This appears to be a 64 bit only crash. I have tested liveusb of 32 bit and
unable to crash, while on 64 bit liveusb it crashes easily. It also crashes on
my 64 bit installed ubuntu.

Many people can also confirm this crash on 64 bit systems.
I first mentioned this at ubuntuforums to get feedback. Read thread to see other
people confirming and not confirming it. Appears to be a 64 bit problem.

Also, unrelated, why does openoffice paste copied cells when I double click on
any cell and press enter? Or it inputs location of selected cell being edited
into formulas when double click and enter is used? This only happens on linux
version. It did not happen with ubuntu 8.10, and never happened on any windows
versions.

I can confirm this issue. I have the same problem on 64 bit Ubuntu 9.04 using
openoffice 3.01 and ext3.

It appears that the issue is not 64-bit only.

When following the reproduction steps, I can reproduce the crash on my 32 bit
system...stats:

Ubuntu 9.04 Kernel Linux 2.6.28-11-generic
GNOME 2.26.1
OpenOffice 3.0.1

Agree with afarris01, I can reproduce it in Ubuntu 9.04 Kernel Linux
2.6.28-11-generic too (32bit).

This bug still happens on Ubuntu 9.10 32 bit openoffice 3.1.1 edition.

I've changed summary and removed 64bit since it happens on both.

Have any developers tested this bug? It's quite simple and a large enough base
of users have confirmed it.
Comment 5 kyoshida 2009-10-31 02:34:35 UTC
Yup, I can reproduce it. This is go-oo specific issue, so it is not something
the upstream developers care much about.

I'll take a look into it.

As to why paste on enter, please refer to Issue 28535.
Comment 8 kyoshida 2009-10-31 03:08:57 UTC
fixed it on ooo-build-3-1-1 (3.1.1) and master (3.2) branches of ooo-build, as
well as the upstream koheicopyborder cws, where the same functionality exists.
