Description redflagzhulihua 2008-07-25 04:52:48 UTC
Create a calc document, Tools->Solver..., click Option button.

In Option dialog, select Epsilon level(0-3) and click Edit button.

I can set the value bigger than 3.

Hi,

as far as I know the Epsilon level can be set for each solver engine. As OOo is
open in this way, the epsilon level can be higher or lower. So there is no
limitation and I think it's not a bug.

Hi Frank,

I don't think we should set a limitation for the Epsilon Level, But it
followed by a "(0-3)" tells us we limit the value to 0-3. But when I set the
value it can be set a value bigger than 3. This is kind of unexpected for me.
I think if we can handle the unlimited Epsilon Level, then we needn't add
a "(0-3)" after the item. The function doesn't match the UI information.

Hi and sorry,

I think I made it not clear enough, will try it again.

The dialog is capable of covering more than one solver engine. According to the
Specification ( http://specs.openoffice.org/calc/features/Solver.odt ) other
solver engines can be used by developing an extension for it. Therefore the
dialog must be able to fit the needs of such an extension and therefore the
epsilon level can't be limited to the current setting accepting only values from
zero up to three. There is a case in the test case specification (TCS) covering
the epsilon level. This TCS is attached to Issue 8808 . You may have a look at
this one too.

But let's wait and see what Niklas will tell us about it. I think this Issue can
be closed as invalid.
