Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 90581
Option to prevent auto completion of date
Last modified: 2014-05-03 13:57:06 UTC
My compliments for your efforts in producing a great programme. Entering many alphanumeric strings in cells results in a routine in the programme changing the input into a date. While this may be of use to some people probably most people would simply like what they typed to be displayed unchanged. Would someone like to change the code so this automatic date entry could be disabled just as for example the paperclip thing in microsoft office can be turned off. I know there are work arounds but since I and many others will never ever ever want any of my cell contents changed by the programme into something else, it would be good to be able to turn the "feature" off. Basically my needs are very simple, I would like what I type in a cell to be displayed in the cell.
reassigning features and enhancements to user requirements@openoffice.org which will be the default owner for those tasks (was introduced some time ago)
Created attachment 81664 [details] Sample Document Attached sample document shows some examples how auto date recognition leads to wrong results (headings with red background). That needs some improvement, but there is no easy solution fulfilling all needs. I often have Spreadsheets where I would like to switch off auto date recognition for some cells and to leave it for other ones.
Description is truth.
