Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 90450
List formatting changed when saving in Word 97/2000/XP format
Last modified: 2008-06-11 20:28:56 UTC
The formatting of lists (numbered and with bullets) is changed when a file is saved in Word 97/2000/XP format. In particular, * The indentation is changed for numbered lists. * Continuation paragraphs are changed into normal paragraphs and their indentation lost. * The spacing of between the number or symbol and the text is changed. * New list formats are gratuitously created (e.g. WW8Num1, WWW8Num2, etc.) and are applied to existing lists. I have submitted this bug as a Priority 2 (must be fixed in next release) because OOo is used in a work setting which is predominantly Microsoft-based. Therefore, I cannot use OOo if it does not seamlessly work with Microsoft format files. I will submit an example file.

Closing duplicate.
86652 doesn't address all the list formatting issues that have been raised in 90450, so I've re-opened it.
First, please have a look at http://qa.openoffice.org/ooQAReloaded/Docs/QA-Reloaded-BasicRules.html - especially the section "One problem - One issue". your aspects one and three are handled by issue 86652. Aspect four cannot be fixed - MS word keeps all lists as styles, but without names. So OOo's filter has to add a kind of "Dummy" names for the styles. Aspect two does not look like real list issue - please file a new issue for this and attach a sample document to it. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 86652 ***
Closed.
I don't want to argue. I've said what I want to say, and if you don't want to fix list formatting when saved to Word format, please mark the bug as "Will not fix."
