Description rbraumann 2008-03-05 22:54:11 UTC
to see the problem: connect a1 and a2 into one cell. set cursor to this cell.
set cell to 1. Select cell again if not selected anymore. Drag the lower right
cross of the cell rectangle down to a4 to auto fill. The visible result will be
cell a1 displays 1. A3 displays 3 and a4 displays 4. If you disconnected a1 and
a2 you would see a1 displayed 1 and a2 displayed 2.So auto fill worked as if
there had been no connected cell.
Intuitively you would have expected two connected cells: a1 connected to a2 and
a3 connected to a4 where the first connected cell displays 1 and the second
displays 2. If you disconnect both cells you should get displayed a1 = 1, a2
emty, a3 = 2, a4 empty. No example provided/appended.
This might not exactly be a bug but to change it, would make it more intuitive
and make it a usefull feature.

reassigning features and enhancements to user requirements@openoffice.org which
will be the default owner for those tasks (was introduced some time ago)

Description confirmed.
IMHO correct behavior should be A3=1, A4=1
Unmerge A1+A2 -> A1=1, A2 empty
If merged A1+A2=1 and A3=2 -> A4=3
Auto fill should not perform merging.
