Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 85187
Wrong option gets disabled in paste special, shift cells
Last modified: 2008-09-19 04:37:57 UTC
Cut a column with content, paste special, "shift to right" is disabled, "shift down" is enabled but raises an error for obvious reasons ("Could not shift contents behind sheet"). Same with a cut horizontal vector where option "shift down" is disabled. If you disable any of the two options for some reason, it should be exactly the other way round: a horizontal vector should be insertable by shifting down, whereas a vertical vector should be insertable by shifting to the right. But why do you disable the option at all? A small vector should be insertable in any direction.

I reproduced this bug on WinXp and Linux with build 2.3.0. It is obviously bug because when I paste at least once somewhere, and try to paste special again, the shift right button that was once disabled is not longer disabled. Also the nothing is disabled if you copy a column and then try to paste special. Also if you try to paste in the same column as you cut, both down and right are disabled. Something that may help solving this problem is that you actually do not need to have content in the column. 1. Just cut a column. 2. Paste special. And you see the bug. I tried this right after downloading the program, so no changes were made after downloading. So if you want both the options of shifting right and down, you can simply copy the column and delete it the column copied. Also I was checking how it would react when I cut only one box. If I try to paste special in the same column, similar problems only now shift down is disabled and if I try to paste special in the same box, all of the buttons are disabled. If I paste once, then paste special again, none of the radio buttons are disabled. Also if you cut rows, then shift right is disabled. thank you
