Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 84465
Save timeouts
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:11:39 UTC
I found one issue close but not this particular issue in your database. This has happened a number of times since we started having a problem with our fileshare server. When the fileshare goes down and I don't notice (3 times in the last week) it takes approximately 8 minutes to timeout me saving to the fileshare. Calc waits about 2-3 minutes and errors out then I hit "OK" then the same thing 2 more times. Finally the 3rd time I hit "OK" it will let me save to a different location. Is there a way to have it timeout at about 20 seconds? If it doesn't save by then it's not going to save, right? It's a very small file.
Hi Mathias, looks like it's something general for the Office, can you have a look at this one please ? Frank
There is no timeout inside OOo. The timeout is set by the system. OOo waits in a system call until it returns. If this call takes several minutes there is no way for OOo to accelerate this.
Just to explain where we are heading to: our plan is to move to saving documents in the background. This will not remove the timeout (this is impossible as it comes from the system), but OOo will be usable in the meantime.
