I found this problem in openoffice 2.3 and previous versions with Windows Xp 
and Linux (Fedora).
If I have many sheets in Calc (let's say...30) and I'm working in the sheet 24, 
after I opened and closed the page preview I'm still in the sheet 24...but in 
the bottom bar the label of this sheet is no more showed (there are the labels 
of the sheet 18/19/20).

Not confirm with OOo 2.3.1 on OpenSuSE 10.3. 
Please attach sample file and reproduce this problem step by step

Confirming with 2.4m241 on WinXP. 
On attached screenshot 
1. at the left side note tab positions (Sheet24, circled in green), 
2. click Print Preview, Close Preview 
3. note how sheet tabs have moved (Sheet24 is not visible, circled in red).

Issue still exists in 3.1.
