Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 8339
Enable merging a number of rows or columns in one action. All rows or columns of a selected cell matrix get merged.

It is not possible to merge a set of rows or a set of columns if a matrix of cells is selected. I often use merging nor OO nor Excel supports this one. Shouldn't be too difficult. Furthermore would a dropdown Merge button then be nice for the toolbar (merge Rows (default), Merge Colums)

Hi Bettina, one4you
There´s > Format > Merge Cells for both a matrix of highlighted cells (i.e. a number of n x m adjacent cells) and a set of highlighted rows or columns. So I´m not sure whether I understand your enhancement correctly.
The idea behind this enhancement is that you merge a number of rows or columns in one action. Of cource you can select a nxm matrix of cells but then you can only merge it in one cell and not into n x 1 rows or 1 * m columns... You don't want to do this by hand for say 50 columns of 5 row cells...
I see. Confirmed.
Summary: Enable merging a number of rows or columns in one action. Of cource you can select a nxm matrix of cells but then you can only merge it in one cell and not into n x 1 rows or 1 * m columns. Considered for Office later.
