Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 82506
CTRL+A selection should be kept after a replace all operation
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:12:27 UTC
After Replacing Cell Name Portions Replacement Selection Disappears . Procedure :- 1) Select the work sheet -> ^A . 2) Carry out a replacement operation . 3) Observe that the selection - inverse text depiction - is no longer present . current solution ( should not be required ) :- 4) Close Replacement Dialog . 5) Reselect - ^A . 6) Open Replacement Dialog .
Sorry, but I don't understand what you're doing here. Please describe more precisely and give a step by step description on how to reproduce. Frank
Area selected by ^A operation is no longer selected after the replacement operation - whole operation has to be repeated .
Not a defect but maybe an enhancement request. BTW such an selection with CTRL+A and than a replace all operation is nonsense as the replace all functionality searches the whole sheet if not set to current selection only. Frank
Changed Summary to reflect the problem.
This issue is currently represented as a triviality. However, it is more significant than that. May I advise to change the title one more time to "User selection should be kept after a replace all operation" because indeed the issue is that Calc just changes the users' selection after "Replace all". Obviously, when the user wants to act on a selection of cells, it is not up to the application to change the users selection. This is obviously related to the other issue, where a user has to select a hidden option (hidden under "more") to have the spreadsheet effectively work on his selection (issue 35093).
It is not Windows issue only but all platforms, not Calc, but Writer as well and this is not a wish report but a bug -- compare this to even simple editors like Kate. Replace means "replace", it does not mean "replace and do some other random stuff" --> thus, a defect. And the defect is still valid (dev3.0 m28).
