Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 82224
Saving bug in Calc 2.3 XML files
Last modified: 2018-11-26 16:26:10 UTC
I replaced OpenOffice 2.2 with 2.3 today on a Windows XP system. Its installation verified as 100%. After installing it, I opened a existing XML spreadsheet, saved under Calc 2.2, revised it and tried to resave the revised spreadsheet back as XML again. It errored out and would not save under XML. So I had to save it as a XLS file instead. I then uninstalled OpenOffice 2.3 and reinstalled it. Again it said it verified as 100%, but when I tried to resave the file under XML, it hung up again and errored out. So I resaved it as xls.
rick69usa, please provide the file that could not be resaved. (setting version as per report).

I think this is same. When "Save As" this document in MS Excel 2003 XML format, Calc show error: "Error saving the document ...: Write error. The file could not be written". The error is present in versions OOo 2.3, OOo 2.4 and OOo 3.0 beta.
Confirming with 2.4 on WinXP - when attached .ods is saved in Excel 2003 XML I get error message "Error saving the document ATT00128: Write Error. The file could not be written."
Is this going to get fixed? I'm unable to save to Excel XML as well. The reason I need XML output is so that the data can be processed with external tools. Issue #94787 is a duplicate of this issue logged against Mac OS. OOO300m9 (Build:9358) XP SP3 3GB RAM, 100GB+ free disk space
