Description Joost Andrae 2007-07-10 11:01:36 UTC
When I install an Arabic languagepack into a OOo-Dev installation then the
languagepack identifies as "Unknown" in /tools/options/language settings/User
Interface/
Comment 1 Joost Andrae 2007-07-10 16:00:31 UTC
As discussed per email I change the owner to Carsten.
Comment 2 carsten.driesner 2007-07-11 15:11:32 UTC
cd: Accepted.
Comment 3 carsten.driesner 2007-08-01 10:19:29 UTC
cd->tl: Please take over. You told me that ar is not a valid language therefore
we currently show "Unknown". May be a fix can be to use
MsLangId::getFallbackLanguage()  within SvxLanguageTable::GetString to find a
fallback language for "ar".

cd->ja: Please contact tl to provide more information about this issue.

TL->JA: Since I did not get any new input about this I'll hand this one over to
you for the time being.
Comment 6 Mathias_Bauer 2007-12-04 16:18:55 UTC
according to release status meeting -> target 3.x
Comment 7 Joost Andrae 2008-07-09 11:44:40 UTC
retarget to 3.1. Changed owner to TL
Comment 8 Mathias_Bauer 2008-07-17 16:15:38 UTC
Does it make sense to support an "ar" UI language? Shouldn't it be ar-EG etc.?
Comment 9 thomas.lange 2008-07-18 08:42:16 UTC
Just in order to not be forgotten...
Since Farsi is a language of its own but uses the same characters:
Does the Arabic language pack need to deal with Farsi (Locale: fa, language of
Iran) as well?
Comment 10 ooo 2008-11-17 13:39:18 UTC
Sounds pretty much like a duplicate of issue 93555 that got fixed for OOo3.0 and
has a follow-up issue 93694 for Ooo3.1

@tl: AFAIK, Farsi is unrelated and should not depend on Arabic at all.

I think we can close this issue, objections?
Comment 11 thomas.lange 2008-11-17 13:46:14 UTC
No objection from my side. But we should wait for input from JA since he would
be the one who would have to tell me what to do with this one anyway.

TL->JA: What do you think, can this one be closed now?
Comment 12 Mathias_Bauer 2008-12-08 13:35:32 UTC
@ja: ping :-)
Comment 13 Joost Andrae 2009-01-19 15:01:31 UTC
