Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 77213
Graph on duplicated sheet becames linked to duplicated sheet's data
Last modified: 2014-01-07 18:39:21 UTC
The case described here is for data plotted on graphs that are placed on the same sheet. When a sheet (Sheet1) is copied (Edit->Sheet->Move/Copy menu), data and graph are duplicated (into Sheet1_2). The data source of the graph however remains the original data in Sheet1. If the data in Sheet1_2 is modified, the graph doesn't change. Both graphs on Sheet1 and Sheet1_2 will change if the data on Sheet1 is changed. It would seem more logical and useful to change the implementation of the Copy functions so that when the graphs and data are duplicated they remain linked. It would allow to prepare a template sheets with the desired layout, duplicate it and easily apply new data with a simple copy and paste, with graphs that will reflect the changes. This is also the behavior of Excel.
Created attachment 45026 [details] A sheet with simple data and a graph. The sheet has been duplicated and the data has been changed in the new sheet. The graph on the new sheet does not reflect the changes (its data source is still Sheet1)

This problem is solved in version 3.3.0. See duplicate bug #29848.
IMHO sheets should be independent. AOO410m1(Build:9750) - Rev. 1555399 2014-01-06_04:13:46 - Rev. 1555657 Debian
