Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 73226
Column letters render incorrectly in large spreadsheet
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:13:10 UTC
I have several spreadsheets of circa 37,000 rows. If saved in Excel 2003 with the cursor left on cell A2, then opened in OpenOffice Calc 2.0.4, row 1 is invisible. If I hit an up-arrow, I can get all of row 1 showing above the A...B...C...D.... column headers. If I then hit the right arrow twice, I end up with a mix of row 1 with column headers above and below. The end result is unusable for doing any useful work on the spreadsheet. I have screen shots of all three screens: http://ian.waring.googlepages.com/OpenOfficeFirstOpen.png http://ian.waring.googlepages.com/OpenOfficeUpArrowtoA1.png http://ian.waring.googlepages.com/OpenOfficeArrow2RighttoC1.png Any ideas if there is a fix in place? I'm running OpenOffice 2.0.4 Calc on Fedora Core 6 - the version that comes with the distribution and with all updates to date applied. Ian W.

ian_waring, can you try with OO 2.1 or at least provide the file, attaching it to your issue?

Confirming with OO 2.1 on Suse 10.2 (running in Virtual PC session) - I get the same results. OO 2.1 on WinXP (on real hardware) has some problems with attached .xls too.
Hi, problem is that the file is an Excel5 file and the import filter for that format interprets the freeze position and type in a false way. Re-assign to DR. Frank
