Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 68784
cell copy broken for melted cells
Last modified: 2006-08-20 20:47:44 UTC
Tested with OOo 680m180 on SuSE 10.0 Linux: OOo behaves strangely when copying melted cells. Please see the attached shockwave video for a demonstration. A standard copy & paste of a melted cell to another already melted cell in the same sheet of the same document fails, but a copy to another already melted cell in a different sheet of the same document is successful. If two documents are open, a copy from one melted cell of one document to the other one behaves the same; if it goes from doc1 sheet1 to doc2 sheet1 it fails, but to doc 2 sheet 2 it succeeds. Also, if in the same doc, same sheet, the copy & paste from one melted cell to another one is done as "paste special" with "paste all" turned off and "format" turned off as well, this still fails. Conclusion: The behaviour is seriously broken. In all cases, the copy should succeed, if done from one melted cell into another, it should just copy contents, not format as it appears to work when using another subsheet of the same or another spreadsheet document. Just for information: I have been told, in Microsoft Excel it works in any case as well. Furthermore, copying with "paste special" under the described circumstances must work in any case.

Issue reopened. It cannot be agreed to handle this as "enhancement" like the referenced issue 7500 which is not treated with since 2002. It it clearly a bug that "paste special" with "format" off doesn't work. As reported by me, it already works to copy between different sheets of the same document. Just copying inside the same sheet does not work. This can surely be fixed. Please let the spreadsheet author have a look on this.
If you see it as a DEFECT, please discuss that at issue 7500! Pls. VOTE there! It won't go any faster if we open several new issues for always the same problem ervery month. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 7500 ***
