Description andreschnabel 2006-07-20 18:21:40 UTC
If only a page range (1st page not included) of a calc document is exported to
PDF, notes are not exported, although the option is enabled.

To reproduce:
- Create a calc document with some content, so that it has more than one page
for printing
- put a note somwhere on the second page
- export to pdf, export page 2 only, enable "Export Notes"

-> the note will not be exported

This works fine, if all pages are exported.

I filed the issue for calc, as this problem does not occure in Writer.

this seems related to Issue 44282, 59745, 45493, 40354

Hi,

as it never worked that way, it's an enhancement. On the other hand you may say
it's the correct way because you decided to just export the second page and the
Notes are always another page so the pdf must contain 2 pages.

So I assign this to requirements for decission finding.

set back to DEFECT, as I think you are talking about a different thing here.

If notes would be exported using format - page, sheet - print notes enabled I
would agree, that notes would not be exported, as they are on a different page.

But with "export notes" enabled in PDF export, notes should be embedded in the
PDF document, right there where they are. That it "never worked that way" is no
argument to change this defect to enhancement.
See http://specs.openoffice.org/appwide/pdf_export/PDFExport.sxw . Export of
Notes is explained in 6.5 ... Calc notes are supposed to behave the same way as
writer notes do.

Hi Niklas,

one for you I think. I did not know that there is a specification and that Calc
should export the notes to PDF as an embedded tag. As far as I can see, Print
Notes mus tbe enabled under Format-Page-Sheet in addition to the export Notes
checkbox in the PDF Export dialog. According to the Specification only the
checkbox in the Export dialog should be necessary to export notes.

NN->SJ: PDFExport::ExportSelection calls PDFExtOutDevData::SetCurrentPageNumber
with the document page number (including non-selected pages), but when used in
PDFExtOutDevData::CreateNote etc, it's interpreted as page number within the PDF
file.

Writer calculates its own page numbers, but Impress has the same problem (with
hyperlinks).

I suppose this can just be changed in PDFExport::ExportSelection.
