Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 67029
Fill Keyboard Shortcuts
Last modified: 2017-09-27 19:07:42 UTC
Open Office does not allow filling down or right using keyboard shortcuts. Requires a way to emulate fill fuctions found in MS Excel or at least allow user to map keyboard shortcuts in calc.
Hi, I do not know about fill functions found in MS Excel. Can you supply an example? Second, there is a way to map keyboard shortcuts in calc (2.0.3): > Tools > Customize > Keyboard Gerco-Kees
Hi Gerco-Kees, In MS Excel, a user can highlight a source cell and intended fill ranges then use keyboard short cut (Ctrl-D [for fill down] or Ctrl-R [for fill right]). Currently in Calc the same proceedure brings up a 'dropdown' box with the first highlited cell, which only fills the last highlighted cell when clicked. Of course the proper fill function occurs when the user uses the mouse to fill cells (ie. clicking on bottom right corner of highlighted cell and dragging to other cells) but this defeats the purpose of the keyboard shortcut. Another side issue related to this is the default method that the fill works (regardless of mouse drag or future keyboard shorcut). If there are no numbers then the fill clones the cells, but if there is a number then the fill creates a series. Would there be a way to customize the way this works, so the user can pick which default fill method? Thanks again for all your help.
You can customize keyboard. So when you customize your Ctrl-D and Ctrl-R (we need only one key because the function is the same) you can choose Edit-Autofill Data Series or Edit-Fill something. Fill Series is used to modify the way autofill fill cells. You can specify for example the step in arit. series. If is ok for you we can close the issue. Try and let us know.

Reopening because issues 35738 and 38108 only add the other shortcuts. Ctrl-D conflicts with the selection list. A different shortcut has to be selected for either "fill down" or the selection list.
Reassigning to requirements.
Created attachment 46862 [details] The patch we use in ooo-build.
Issue type: PATCH.
Hi Niklas, as it is a PATCH now, please have a look at it. Frank
As already mentioned, we can't change that shortcut without a solution for the selection list.
Reset assigne to the default "issues@openoffice.apache.org".
I set status as patch I don't know if this works with AOO 4.x
