If you make an irregular-shaped selection using the ctrl key and try to export 
that selection to a PDF, a blank PDF will be generated.

For example, if you use ctrl to select two cells which are not connected and 
export to PDF, you will get a blank PDF file. Same thing if you try to export an 
L shaped selection.

Multiple selection isn't supported. The empty page is there on purpose (issue
18334).

Support for multiple selection might be added in the future, but isn't important
at the moment.
