Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 64375
offer a clickable (ie. in toolbar or menu) 'delete' function which erases directly like backspace
Last modified: 2006-06-09 13:58:59 UTC
'delete' doesn't erase content of a cell directly, has to go through an annoying dialog box. If one compares the same feature in MS office, there are two separate menu commands, where 'delete' erases no questions asked,'delete...'(or maybe,'clear... ') erases partial content on chosen options. Somewhere around OOo 1.1.x this feature worked exactly like MS Office,'delete' erasing directly.
you can use backspace to delete directly; otherwise according to http://qa.openoffice.org/issue_handling/workflowcharts/RFE_issues_by_QA.sxd I reassign this issue to requirements and set the status to New
It would be more correct to set direct deletion on 'delete' button and may be the present dialog to backspace, fo two reasons, 1] 'delete' button is instinctive for deletion 2] for MSO compatibility
