Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 58968
Not requiring "=" for simple math formulas
Last modified: 2008-05-17 23:31:05 UTC
Enhancement request. This is a suggestion that comes from me and my user base. In OO Calc, if you enter "1+1" in a cell, it will be treated as a label. In MS-Excel, Lotus123, and Xess, if you enter "1+1", it is treated as a formula and responds with "2" in the cell. OO Calc (and Gnumeric) requires that you put an "=" in front of "1+1" to make it treat it as a formula, which is one extra keystroke.
