Description cloak 2005-03-21 15:33:39 UTC
In the later 1.9 and 2.x builds it is impossible to copy and paste dde-links
from other packages. In the 1.4x versions it's working.

The OSS system doesn't regognized de link, so you can't use paste special.

It is impossible to copy and paste dde links from other packages. In 1.x
versions it works in the 1.9 and 2 it does'nt. The system does'nt regognized a
dde source so you can't use paste special. For me dde links are critical for
using OSS. Without a proper DDE link I can't get streaming stock inforfation in
my spreadsheets.

I can repeat the error with all the Internet stockstreamers I'm using. The copy
and paste (special) works fine from MS Excell, but with most of the Internet
stock-streamers it does'nt work (f.i. Quotestream and Eris). Both streamers will
copy a text string in an Excell DDE syntax . In Excell it works fine and will
give a DDE link, but the new OO does not translate this format in the new OO 2.x
format. for example from the ERIS streamer the copy paste gives the result
=EBRT32|q!'203608.AskPrice'as a text string instead of a DDE link, wich means
the DDE server EBRT32 gives for fundnr. 203608 the Askprice. The DDE syntax in
OO 2.x is =DDE("EBRT32";"q";"203608.AskPrice")
In the quotestream server it's the same problem. It seems that an Excell text
syntax string will not be transleted in the OO syntax and that is a big problem
in the daily practice where you have to respond instantly.

Hi,

could you tell us how and there we can get access to such an DDE Server
application ?

Thanks for your help.

The problem is that you must have a account for using this kind of applications.
My problem is that the systems I'm using are in dutch and need my account.

The best I can do is give a link to a stock-data applier so you can open a test
account.

The link for ERIS is:
http://www.tijdbeursmedia.com/en/services/financial_software_and_price_information_systems/real_time_price_information.asp

Here you can open a demo account or you can get more info.

I hope this will help you

Hi,

I've got an test account and tried it with OOo1.1.4, 1.1.3 and an internal m95.
In all cases the Excel DDE syntax was used and the DDE isn't working.

So this isn't a defect as it never has been done what you expect, I re-flag it
as enhancement and assign it to the requirements team.
