Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 28779
problem when editing cells that need to be expanded to overlap merged cells
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:13:11 UTC
- open the attached spreadsheet - double-click the green cell in order to enter edit-mode - click the cursor with the mouse somewhere in the expanded area of the green cell (where it overlaps the red, merged cell): It works fine. - now try the same with the blue cell: It does not work. Edit-mode is cancled and the red cell is selected. This is more a problem if the blue cell includes a formula you want to edit. - add a "=" at the beginning in the blue cell - again try to click the cursor into the expanded area: Now a reference is added!

Hi Niklas, one for you I think. Frank
Is this issue from 2004 being "look into" by anyone? A P3 defect that's been so loooooooooooong forgotten does not speak well of the effort to improve OO. Does anyone have an idea of what is being done to solve this?
Confirmed in OOo 3.2.0 Looks like the reference for cell overlapping for merged cells is broken. the merged cell is referenced with row 1, so editing row 2 "underlap" the merged cell.
