Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 28581
sort column with dates and NULL change some dates with spreadsheet
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:12:27 UTC
Open a new spreadsheet write some date in the same column with one or more space between dates, sort with one sort button (not the menu command) and you have some dates translated from gregorian date to julian date (all the dates after a blank cell) example: 1) write this 4 lines in column A ********* 01/01/11 01/10/22 02/08/20 ********* 2) Select column A 3) push the A->Z sort button 4) what you have is the following four rows: ********** 01/01/11 02/08/20 44835 *********** If you use the sort in the date menu you don't have this error. The error is that the date 01/10/22 is translated as number (julian date), so if you convert it to date you have the correct one 01/10/22 (gregorian date) I have tested it with: OOo 1.1.1 italian version on Windows OOo 1.1.1-2 italian version on Debina GNU/Linux Ciao Davide
Hi Eike, if the empty cell is formatted as date, this problem never arises. Nevertheless this has to be considered as bug. Frank
Not simply a bug. The difference between the button behavior and sorting via dialog is that no formats are moved with the sorted data when using the button, in the dialog you may choose the behavior under options. The reason is, that not only number formats are considered to be formats, but also borders, backgrounds, font attributes and other cell attributes. Not all of them are desired to change when sorting. => enhancement, exact behavior to be specified, reassigning to the User Experience team. btw, Dprina: the numbers you see are not Julian day numbers, but serialized date values, days since "null" date, the null date may be specified under Tools.Options.Spreadsheet.Calculcate for compatibility with other spreadsheet applications.
