Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 26727
Its possible to enter values to cells do not exists because they are "overlapped" by a connected cell
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:13:41 UTC
Please have a look at the attached spreadsheet, and do the following steps: - select the blue cell - push the cursor up: the green (connected) cell is selected - push the cursor up again: now the cell B1 is selected. But this cell does not really exist, because it is overlapped by the A1. Now You can enter values to B1. In the attached spreadsheet I already have entered the value "TEST" to B1. The red cell references to B1, in order to show the problem. Excel does not have this problem. Please fix it.

Hi Niklas, reproducible only if you use merged cells in the first row. Frank

Please also have a look at issue 28067.

Hi Niklas, it also applies for d&d operations. Frank
The problem also happens for the left border. Just have a look at the doument attached below. (Please also check the right and bottom border for the problem. I have not tested this.)

Due to time problems this is re-targeted to OOo later
It is a feature of OOo, to use that cell, which is hidden by a connection. This feature is used to store additional information, which will be evaluated in other cells, but not shown. Excel does not has this feature. (There is a nice calendar on http://de.openoffice.info/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14977&p=81619 which uses this feature.) The real issue is that you neither can access the cell by navigator nor by using the name field. But you have to disconnect the cells before you can edit the value and connect it again afterwards.
