Description lcn 2004-01-14 19:06:48 UTC
Gnumeric has a cool feature : When enter =-4^2, gnumeric tranforms the value
into =(-4)^2.
It avoid confusion that should be (-4)^2 or -(4^2).

Nota : Personally, I prefer that -4^2 to be tranformed into -(4^2).
In math, -4^2 = -(4^2) = -16 (R 1.8.1, scilab 2.7.2, maxima 5.90). But,
strangely, on Excel, -4^2 = 16 (many says that depend of the reading of
minus...).
For more information, look at issue 24271.

Hi lcn,
OOo, Excel and Gnumeric behaviour turned out to be wrong. See #24271 as well. So
I think this one is obsolete.

Best regards, Peter

OK, no flames against my point of view. I think I can close the issue.
