Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 15604
Named ranges conflicts
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:12:27 UTC
When a sheet is copied to another file, all the named ranges are copied too, even if those ranges aren't present in the sheet being copied (i.e. it copies all the named ranges in the worksheet). Making it easy to have duplicated named ranges, which in turn result to not being able to open the new file again. I see two suitable steps: 1- Copy only named references which actually make reference to the sheet being copied. 2- Inform the user of the existance of duplication in named references after copying (if any), and give the option to choose which one will be used or to append a suffix to the new named ranges that are duplicated.
Hi Bettina, please have a look
Summary: When a sheet is copied to another file, all the named ranges are copied too, even if those ranges aren't present in the sheet being copied (i.e. it copies all the named ranges in the worksheet). Making it easy to have duplicated named ranges, which in turn result to not being able to open the new file again. Proposed are 1. Copy only named references which actually make reference to the sheet being copied. 2. Inform the user of the existance of duplication in named references after copying (if any), and give the option to choose which one will be used or to append a suffix to the new named ranges that are duplicated.
