Description Dwayne Henderson 2012-06-01 10:50:10 UTC
Why is the default cell width in OOo 2,27cm?

What about changing it to 2,50cm, a nice round number which will make it easier to grid ones spreadsheets (http://www.subtraction.com/pics/0703/grids_are_good.pdf), i.e. imposing order by only having cells that are 2,50cm, 5cm, 7,50cm, 10cm and so on.

Thank you!

Actually why should the default column width be hard coded this way? I would have thought we need two user configurable setting in Tools/options/calc: 1. the measurement system -- international yard or SI; 2. the column width.

I agree, it makes no sense for it to be hard-coded. I was just searching to try and find out how to change the default column width, and found nothing but workarounds.

Are you asking for this as a document-level or system-level setting? I hope it will be possible to change it at both levels. (System level would probably be a matter of changing it in the default template.)
