Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 115870
Images anchored to a cell aren't sorted along with other cells.
Last modified: 2013-09-24 06:34:15 UTC
Let column A and B (for example) contain some text, such as Item number and description, and let column C contain images (one per cell) that illustrates the text in columns A and B. Now you want to sort columns A-C for column B in ascending order, but when you do that you notice that the images didn't sort; they seems to work like some kind of decoration only, or in other words: they are meaningless, at least in this case. If no one will fix this I have a suggestion for a feature that would be an acceptable workaround: When you right click a cell and click [Format cells… → Background], you can change the background colour of that cell. If we have a column of different colours and we sort a few columns, among those the coloured one, the colours will follow the sort, at least if ”Include formats” are checked in the sort dialogue. So my suggestion is to add the feature to use an image as background of a cell. Just add a button for searching after images (and maybe other kinds of objects). There could be some settings to do, like if the image should fill the cell completely in one way or the other or what should happen when the user resize the cell. Or if you find a better way to solve this problem. I know that I'm not the only one who have this problem and after what I've heard Excel can do this… (for me, Excel is not an option though, since I'm on Linux). Here's a link to a thread that I found about this problem: http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=82549
Confirmed with Rev. 1525015 Win 7.
