Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 11402
bug in merged cells - paste impossible
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:15:02 UTC
the bug: merge some cells, best/example: 4 rows vertikal merge to one - and this five colums in a row together : Enter some content (5 cells in a row) somewhere and copy it to the merged area: it is nearly impossible: the data from the source-area contains format-descriptions that want to override formats in the destination/merged area. This will not work, but paste special will work a little. make a new merged-area like the above. select data from the old and try to paste it to the new merged area: will not work ( no way) . error: merged to merged will not work. Note: merged cells should be treated like one cell, but OO uses them as an area (with formats for multiple cells) which obviously can not work. Martin
am I wrong with this issue? I like to know Martin
well, I still treat this issue as a sever one. someone mind to take care ? Thanks Martin
I can confirm this. @Niklas: I remember we had other issues like this that we closed as invalid. But I don't remember the reason why we behave in this way. Peter

yes, this is neccessary well, obviously, having a cell which can not get content from "paste" is a strange leftout. rgds Martin

status for paste to merged cells within OO.o 1.1 final a. copy from normal cells: the first of the merged cells/area will get the content the merged area is destroyed - meaning now cells only b. copying content of merged cells to merged cells is impossible so I guess, final solution is under way, yes?
