I'd find it useful to be able at the click of a button to convert a column of
selected URLs from plain text to working (ie clickable) links.

I see many people would also find it useful to go the other way about without
losing all custom formatting (as happens with Format > Default Formatting, the
standard solution).

This seems to be an issue that concerns Excess users too!

Valid request. It is partly covert by issue 75113, but has additional proposals.
