Description jteera5 2009-12-10 08:32:37 UTC
When "Compare Documents" to a file saved with a password, after entering the
right password, an error message box appeared as below:

Error loading document file:<file path and name.ods>:
Read Error.
The wrong password has been entered.

This problem also occurs on Mac OS X v.10.6.4 with OOo 3.2.1. I note this problem was first reported in
2005 but marked "resolved" as not reproducible. However, it is a reproducible problem today, Aug. 12,
2010, with the latest sw versions.

I did not remember that I had posted a similar bugreport two years ago! And now I encounter the same error, with Writer: I am attempting to Compare two .odt files that are both password-protected (both with the same password; perhaps that is an issue?) ... and receive the same old error--system does not recognize the password. Note of course that I have reconfirmed the validity of the password by opening each file separately within Writer, no problem.
modal dialog box text:
OpenOffice 4.1.13
Error loading document
file///C:/Users/bjcco ...
Read-Error.
The wrong password has been entered.

oops! correction to my previous report: those are again .ods files, spreadsheets, not text documents.
Note further that if I remove (i.e. SaveAs with password unchecked) the password from both .ods documents, then the Compare function works fine.

Sorry, one more note: same error-message behavior on Win10 OS and on MacOS 12.4
