Description wyrobnik 2009-12-07 10:42:28 UTC
openoffice.org 3.1.1.
When run inside a vmware workstation virtual machine, inserting a link to
external data fails by not showing any available tables/ranges in the external
data source.
This applies only to remote URLs like http://www.google.com. Linking to e.g.
local spreadsheets works.
I reproduced this error with vmware workstation 7 running on the following
hosts: debian 5 (lenny), debian testing (squeeze), opensuse 11.2 with the
following guest OS: ubuntu 9.10, debian testing (squeeze), fedora 12.

OOo 3.1.1. in a windows xp professional guest does not exhibit this error on
any of the aforementioned host systems.
OOo 3.01 (OOO300m15 (Build:9379) in a Ubuntu 9.04 guest works without problems

Can anyone provide a document that helps to reproduce this bug?

Tried on Virutualbox Ubuntu 12 with LibreOffice 3.5.7., I have no AOO on VirtualBox

1. Launch LibO (AOO) Calc and Firefox
2. In FF go to https://issues.apache.org/
3. Create a query, for example all Bug reports with Version AOO 3.4.0-dev will
show a list (Table) with few bug reports
4. LiBO: Menu 'Insert -> Link to External Data -> copy - paste URL from
   FF URL Line
   <https://issues.apache.org/ooo/buglist.cgi?list_id=131024&query_format=advanced&version=3.4.0-dev> -> <Enter>'
   > After few moments "Select language" message appears
5. Select "English (USA)" [OK]
   > After few moments "Available tables / fields" pane will be filled
6. 'Select "Html tables" -> [OK]
   > After few moments list with bug reports appears in spreadsheet

This also works fine with AOO (I often use that function) on physical WIN machine and physical Linux machine (Comment 4)

Seems to be a minor problem affecting only few users (number of comments / votes).
