Description sweepingoar 2009-09-15 23:18:42 UTC
If you copy a small block of data from Calc (more than one column) and paste it
into another application that isn't Writer, such as any other text editor, the
data gets collapsed into one long column. Example: If I have a Calc document
with six columns and several rows like the following:

One	Two Three	Four	Five	Six
One	Two Three	Four	Five	Six
One	Two Three	Four	Five	Six
One	Two Three	Four	Five	Six
One	Two Three	Four	Five	Six
One	Two Three	Four	Five	Six
One	Two Three	Four	Five	Six
One	Two Three	Four	Five	Six
One	Two Three	Four	Five	Six
One	Two Three	Four	Five	Six
One	Two Three	Four	Five	Six

If I copy the cells using command/control-C and then switch to another,
non-OpenOffice.org application, such as TextWrangler or Appleworks or any
application that doesn't support tables, the grid turns into one long column,
like this:

One
Two
Three
Four
Five
Six
One
Two
Three
Four
Five
Six
One
Two
Three
Four
Five
Six

It would be nice if it could convert the grid to tab delimited text as it is
pasting. That seems to be the more intuitive way to handle data going to non-OLE
aware apps.

I asked MacOS users from FR community. One person confirms the problem with
TextWrangler or Pages from Apples, but not for Emacs or TextEdit default Apple
text editor.
