Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 102821
Charts as their own sheet
Last modified: 2009-06-23 09:36:42 UTC
In the Office equivalent of Calc (Word), you have the option to have charts as their own sheets instead of being an element within a sheet. This makes it a lot easier to manage multiple charts based on a single spreadsheet, as well as ensure graphical uniformity between charts. This is the option that I miss the most in my switch from Office to OpenOffice.
headbomb: One can put a chart in a separate sheet. Just copy the created chart then paste special in a new sheet as "Star Object Descriptor (XML)". This maintains a link with the data and is fully editable as a chart. Not quite a neat and clean as Excel, but it does work. TomW OOO310m11 on Vista SP2.
It works in the sense that it's on a different sheet and linked to the data, but it's still not quite the standalone thing of Excel. Thanks for pointing this out though, at least I'll be able to clean up some of my current mess.
headbomb: Could you please attach an example document from your previous application that contains the feature you are missing. Thanks! Is it maybe issue 5736?
Created attachment 63150 [details] Example of excel file with standalone charts
I've attached an old excel file. The first four slides used to/should be standalone charts. And yes it's the same as issue 5736. Weird that I didn't find it when I search. BTW, I just noticed that I said that the Calc equivalent was Word. I meant Excel (if that wasn't obvious).
Ok, so I set this to duplicate now. Thanks for the report! *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 5736 ***
