Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 101053
cannot assign cell color to REPLACE ALL items
Last modified: 2013-01-29 21:50:01 UTC
I am working in a spreadsheet comparing the values of 2 cells using the EXACT function. If the values are the same, TRUE is displayed. If the values are not the same, FALSE is displayed. With MS Excel I can then do a FIND/REPLACE and replace all occurrences of the word FALSE with another pattern, such as a yellow cell background, so I can spot it easily when scrolling through the spreadsheet. I do not see a way to do this with CALC - it lets me replace a word with another word but not change the characteristics of the cell where the replaced word exists.
In OOo you can do it a different way: Search for TRUE (make sure, that the cells have got the number format 'Boolean', directly or via style and you search in "values"). Then all those cells are marked and you click on 'Background color' in the toolbar to assign a color directly to the selected cells or click on a style to assign a special style you have defined. Currently you can only search for a text and replace with a text, or you can search for a style and replace it with a style. But you can not mix it up. It would be a useful enhancement to the dialog, if you can search for a text and 'replace' (which would mean 'assign') a style, for example.
