Confirmed this behaviour in OOo 2.2 in Windows XP. If you undo (Ctrl+Z) it will undo anything, including a protection of sheet. Perhaps this is as intended, because if you save the document and then open it, then it is really protected. So I don't think this is an error. Can an expert comment on my commment ?? :) Confirmed this behaviour in OOo 2.2 on Windows 2000. I think the OP was not meaning Ctrl+Z to do step 4, but you can also use the tool bar icon to un-merge the cells. This should not be possible while the sheet is protected. This should not be possible while the sheet is protected. Have changed to 'new' - issue confirmed. Hi Niklas, seems to be your construction site. Unmerging works and merging brings up protected cells warning. Should be the same in both cases. Frank Created attachment 48989 [details]

maoyg, I suggest changing issue type to "patch". Similar to merging, unmerging of unprotected cells should still be allowed. Created attachment 49004 [details] The patch of about issue77236#. Hello Niklas, Please review the latest patch, thanks! Checking the protection of a single cell isn't enough, unmerging can also handle larger cell ranges. Also, merging shows an error message when called for protected cells. Unmerging should probably do the same. Created attachment 49141 [details]
