Description matius_4 2005-02-24 16:35:19 UTC
Hello,

I am a frequent user of Open Office and love how flexible the software has
become. As a student there are some features I would like to see though.

When creating a Pie Chart I would like to be able to have the option to place a
Pie Chart on a NEW full page sheet. I don't like having to resize the image and
have to guess how big it will have to be when printing :D

My other suggestion is to be able to have this options within creating the pie
chart:

Label: Just what the section of the pie chart represents

Label and Value: The value will show what number has been entered to get this.
This value could be shown in both the legend or in brackets next to the pie
chart

Label and Percent: What percentage is each segment.

Label, Value and Percent

and finally a tick box to show/hide the Legend

The percent option I would benefit very much from as I am at college and am
always having to do this with my pie charts. As you can imagine this can be
quite time consuming without this. It also doesn't look as nice with it not
being intergrated into the pie chart properly.

Thanks for looking at this suggestion if you have any more questions please
feel free to ask.

P.S. These features I have mentioned are availiable in MS Excel. Can piecharts
with those options be imported into Open Office without any problems?

Hi,

I noticed you posted a full stop and changed the Target milestone. Does this
mean you are considering this enhancement in the future but not sure of a date
yet.

I am just confused as you've not said anything :D

Thanks very much if you have considered the enhancement. I'd just like a bit
more info :D

Best Wishes

Matthew

Thanks for the link. Does this mean all my suggestions will be put onto the
list. I have to admit not everything on that page makes sense to me :D

Best Regards,

Matthew

Creating a chart as sheet is already targeted with Issue 5736.
Putting labels to the chart data points during creation is targeted with Issue
49336.
So what is remaining is to have the value itself and the percentage value both
in the datapoint label. I change the summary accordingly.

Please do write only one request in one issue the next time. Multiple requests
can not be handled correctly. Thanks a lot.

I'm going to create an attachment containing a spreadsheet with an example of a
pie-chart built with Excel XP where the labels show both the value and the
percentage, separated by semi-colons.

Openning the spreadsheet with Excel 97 one can see just the percentages and not
the values.

Openning the spreadsheet with OOo 2.0.4 one can see just the percentages too,
with the difference that the percentages are shown with two decimal digits after
the comma. With Excel 97, the percentages are whole numbers, without commas.

Gustavo.

I fixed the following in CWS chart14:
I added the possibility to display the value at the same time with the
percentage value.
Excel does allow this only for pie charts. As far as I can see the im- and
export for this property for pies works. If there are still open issues with the
filter according this feature please use issue 82177 to describe them.
The semicolon separator from the attached example is addressed with issue
82051for the feature and issue 82177 for the im-/export.

For further details look at the specification.
->Thomas, please verify in CWS chart14.
