In the last week and a half, OO has been crashing frequently. It is when I am using either writer or calc but mostly calc.

At the time I am entering/editing data. I deleted OO, downloaded it again and reinstalled. Two days ago I had a fatal crash. The document could not be recovered and I lost two weeks of detailed analysis work.

It's been crashing again today - fortunately recoverable - but I am worried.

I am using Windows 8. 

Is there a problem with Windows 8? How can I resolve this issue?

I've been having this problem too in Win 8.1.  To compound the problem, all unsaved changes in Calc are always lost.  I get an error message saying the document doesn't exist - oh yes, it does, because Calc manages to recover the last saved version, but any changes I've made since are always lost.  I've been saving more often to try and mitigate this, but it's still slowing up my work abominably.
