Bi-directional writing mode for chart Title Status: Standard -

  1. Start OOo Version 3.1 or higher
  2. Tools / Options... / Language Settings / Tabpage Languages
  3. Mark Checkbox  Enabled for complex text layout (CTL)
  4. File / Open...
  5. Enter the name of the attached Testdocument (chartrtl_corrected.ods) in the File name textfield
  6. Press open
  7. Check, if Object Chart 2: Left to right show the correct (left to right) writing direction for Title and Subtitle
  8. Check, if Object Chart 3: Right to left show the correct (right to left)  writing direction for Title and Subtitle
  9. Switch into the Chart inplace mode chart Object Chart 1: Use superordinate settings (Double click the chart object)
  10. Select the Title
  11. Kontextmenu / Object properties.../ Tabpage Alignment
  12. Check, if the settings for Text direction are Use superordinate object settings
  13. Change the Text direction for the Title to Right to left
  14. Leave the Dialog by using ok
  15. Check, if the Text direction for the Title switched to right to left direction
  16. File / Save as... {name of your choice}
  17. File / reload
  18. Check, if the Text direction for the Title are right to left
  19. Change the Text direction for the Title to Use superordinate object settings
  20. Format / Page... / Tabpage Page
  21. Change the Text direction to Right to left (horizontal)
  22. Leave the Dialog by using ok
  23. Check, if the Text direction for the Title switched to right to left direction
  24. Check, if the Text direction for the Subtitle switched to right to left direction
  25. File / Save

  33. Change the Text direction for the Subtitle to Left to right

  8. Check, if Object Chart 3: Right to left show the correct (right to left)  writing direction for the Legend

  10. Select the Legend
  11. Kontextmenu / Object properties.../ Tabpage Position
  12. Check, if the settings for Text direction are Use superordinate object settings
  13. Change the Text direction for the Title to Right to left
  14. Leave the Dialog by using ok
  15. Check, if the Text direction for the Legend switched to right to left direction
  16. File / Save as... {name of your choice}
  17. File / reload
  18. Check, if the Text direction for the Legend are right to left
  19. Change the Text direction for the Legend to Use superordinate object settings
  20. Format / Page... / Tabpage Page
  21. Change the Text direction to Right to left (horizontal)
  22. Leave the Dialog by using ok

  10. Check, if Object Chart 2: Left to right show the correct (left to right) writing direction for the Secondary Y Axis Title
  11. Check, if Object Chart 3: Right to left show the correct (right to left)  writing direction for the X Axis Title
  12. Check, if Object Chart 3: Right to left show the correct (right to left)  writing direction for the Y Axis Title
  13. Check, if Object Chart 3: Left to right show the correct (left to right) writing direction for the Secondary X Axis Title
  14. Check, if Object Chart 3: Left to right show the correct (left to right) writing direction for the Secondary Y Axis Title

  5. Enter the name of the attached Testdocument (chartrtl_corrected.ods) in the File name textfield

  7. Check, if Object Chart 2: Left to right show the correct (left to right) writing direction for the equation
  8. Check, if Object Chart 3: Right to left show the correct (left to right also), (only western characters will not change the writing direction)  writing direction for the equation
  9. Switch into the Chart inplace mode chart Object Chart 1: Use superordinate settings (Double click the chart object)
  10. Select the equation
  11. Kontextmenu / Object properties.../ Tabpage Alignment
  12. Check, if the settings for Text direction are Use superordinate object settings
  13. Change the Text direction for the Title to Right to left
  14. Leave the Dialog by using ok
  15. Check, if the Text direction for the equation are still left to right direction (only western characters will not change the writing direction)
  16. File / Save as... {name of your choice}
  17. File / reload
  18. Check, if the Text direction for the equation are still left to right direction
  19. Change the Text direction for the equation to Use superordinate object settings
